Travel Development (U9-U10)

WSA’s Travel Development program for the U9-U10 age group is a next step toward more competitive soccer. Professional head coaches lead each team for training and games, balancing advanced soccer development with an introduction to competitive game play. The focus in training is on improving skills and promoting growth. Game play is for learning and gaining confidence as players and teams in preparation for the future, larger and more competitive game.

  • Program Overview

    • Players born 2016 (U9) and 2015 (U10) will be eligible for Fall 2024 - Spring 2025. Selected 2017 birth year players may be considered for play up opportunities.

    • Professional coaches for each team for every practice and game, volunteer parent managers (one per team)

    • Two-season commitment (fall and spring), optional add-on winter training

    • Team rosters of up to 12 players each (7v7 game format, including a goalie), two to three teams per age group for boys and girls

    • Two practices/week (75-90 mins) and ~8-game league schedule in each of Fall and Spring

    • WSA teams play in the Southwest District (SWD) of CJSA. For more information on the league, click HERE

    • Games are on Sundays (50% in Wilton and 50% in nearby towns), plus a jamboree/tournament each season (Labor Day and/or Columbus Day in Fall, TBD in Spring)

    • Boys typically practice on Mon & Thurs; Girls typically practice on Wed & Fri (subject to coach availability and schedule).

    • Fall season (late Aug - early Nov), Spring season (late March - mid June)

    • Pre Season Camp (August) is optional add-on for all players/teams (separate registration)

    • Players not yet ready for the frequency or commitment of Travel Development soccer are encouraged to participate in our recreational programs for 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders. Players may enter the Travel Development and Travel programs at any time during their journey, subject to assessment/fit and available roster spots.

    • WSA and our schedule supports and encourages multi-sport participation, however soccer should be considered a primary sport/activity for benefit of the teams

    • Program fees (~$1,275) cover both Fall and Spring season and include: professional coaches for all practice and games, insurance, league and tourney fees, referee fees, program expenses (field lines, equipment, software and more).

    • Each player is required to purchase the WSA uniform ($100-150).

  • Seasonal Schedule

    It is expected that players will prioritize soccer as their top commitment in the fall season.

    WSA expects players to prioritize soccer in spring season as their top 1 or 2 commitment.

    • Fall season runs from late August to early November, Spring season runs from late March to mid June

    • All schedule information for each team is contained in TeamSnap mobile app

    • Jamboree/Tournaments: Labor Day and Columbus Day tourneys for selected teams

    • Sunday league games are typically between 12-6PM each week
